"Divergence" aims to create a stronger, healthier, more resilient society. Taking influence from one of the 9 Principles of Life, "Nature banks on diversity," this card exercise shows that society banks on diversity as well. Because biodiversity strengthens ecosystems, so too does sociocultural diversity strengthen social systems. When applied to a human scope, considering diversity in any design process allows for varying perspectives to contribute to the final outcome, heightening chances for success, sustainability, regeneration and resilience. Divergence helps to end linear thinking through the teaching and practice of systems thinking.
